Its only 104 miles to Brussels as the crow flies, just down the road sort of.
I have no idea how Amsterdamers view terrorism. I do know that Americans (according to polls) are very afraid of terrorism, yet statistically have a greater chance of being killed by their own falling furniture, or the cow, or lightning. It seems that in Europe, certainly in light of this latest tragedy, your odds might not be as good, so you could say that Europeans are more justifiably fearful of terrorism.
On another note, the Netherlands does seem to have its act together concerning immigration. They are very proactive with their programs of assimilation into Dutch society; also, any right-wing anti-immigration push back seems to be minimal compared to Germany or France.
