who is Rocky De La Fuente?

Bernie Sanders received 69% of the vote in the Democrats Abroad’s Global Presidential Primary (34,570 voters cast their ballots from over 170 countries all around the world), Hillary Clinton got 31%. Sanders picks up 9 pledged delegates as a result of the primary, while Clinton secures an additional 4 delegates. 

But the burning question is; who the hell is Rocky De La Fuente, who got 6 votes? And not one of those votes came from the Netherlands, although I initially thought that this person (blue hair) I saw when we voted here in Amsterdam might have been a Rocky fan.

Well, it turns out he is an actual Democratic candidate for President. Who knew? To date, he has 0 delegates, although he picked up 8,425 votes in the Texas primary, coming in 3rd place!

Brussels

Its only 104 miles to Brussels as the crow flies, just down the road sort of. 

I have no idea how Amsterdamers view terrorism. I do know that Americans (according to polls) are very afraid of terrorism, yet statistically have a greater chance of being killed by their own falling furniture, or the cow, or lightning. It seems that in Europe, certainly in light of this latest tragedy, your odds might not be as good, so you could say that Europeans are more justifiably fearful of terrorism.

On another note, the Netherlands does seem to have its act together concerning immigration. They are very proactive with their programs of assimilation into Dutch society; also, any right-wing anti-immigration push back seems to be minimal compared to Germany or France.

Who are these clowns?

Further proof that the Haarlemmerddijk is truly 3 blocks of everything. These guys are either:
a). Republicans who lost their clown car
b). Super-hero transvestites
c). city employees in new uniforms
   or
d). obnoxious Americans who just got kicked off the BeerBike, especially this guy:
